New Developments at Veterans Park in 2013

Presently, Veterans Park offers various fitness programs and other classes like art and dance. They also cater to toddler classes. Lee County Parks and Recreation joined together with Lee County School Board to develop a kindergarten to 8th grade school. The park serves both Lehigh and Lee County residents.  The park also has a full game room, computer lab for classes and weight room with locker rooms. Its recreation center and newly refurbished gymnasium floors are now open from dawn to 9 p.m. daily. There are no parking fees and the park is open without charge. Visitors and residents can expect stripped and resurfaced gymnasium floors at Veterans Recreation Center.

Lehigh Acres team plans for the 80-plus-acre park in 2013, which include an additional multipurpose field on an adjacent 11-acre parcel. The park will also improve its restrooms and picnic pavilions. Dog parks are also planned to cater to residents and visitors with four legged friends. Inside the park, a handball court will be added that will lead to the dog park and the extra picnic pavilion.

At the moment, there are three playgrounds inside the park. One of the playgrounds includes boulders for climbing and another has a splash park. Furthermore, the pavilion has a complete kitchen, big enough for people to rent out for special occasions and parties. There are also four lighted tennis courts, two covered basketball courts and softball fields that people are free to use. While in the surrounding area people can get access to the internet because of the free Wi-Fi. They can also sit comfortably under the big trees and enjoy the beautiful lake in the park.  The project management team is hopeful these new developments will please the local residents and visitors.
